Continuing Education Requirements for the State of Pennsylvania
General Requirements
State Requirements
Resident Insurance Producers must satisfy the following continuing education requirements in order to renew their license: 24 hours every 2 years; Ethics is not required.

Multiple Lines Licensed Agents
Multiple Lines License Agents may take Major Lines courses in any license type held.
CE Exemptions
Producers licensed prior to January 1, 1971, who have been continuously licensed without adding additional lines of authority, Producers whose only line of authority is a limited line, Surplus Lines licensees, Nonresident insurance producers excluding Title producers, Individuals exempted by the commissioner due to hardship or good cause such as disability or a medical condition, Individuals who first obtained licenses without examination under Section 609(c) of the Fraternal Benefit Societies Code and whose appointments are limited to fraternal benefit societies.
Course Requirements
Subject Area Requirements
Licensees must take approved courses in the line of authority in which they are licensed in.
Repeated Course Rules
Courses cannot be repeated within 2 years from the original course completion date.
Carryover Credits
24 hours may be carried over to the next renewal period.
Special Training Requirements
Initial Training: One-time training of a 4-Hour Annuity Suitability and Best Interest Standards course must be complete prior to selling annuity products in Pennsylvania.
Initial Training: 8 hours must be taken in general Long-Term Care must be completed prior to selling LTC products in Pennsylvania.
Ongoing Training: 4 Hours every two years.
Initial Training: A one-time 3-hour FEMA/National Flood Insurance Program approved training course is required for agents selling Flood Insurance.

Final Exam Requirements
Exam Rules
Online Final Exams are closed book (course materials are not available while the Final Exam is in progress). The final exam must be passed with a score of 70% or higher to receive CE credit. If the exam is not passed on the first attempt, students have an unlimited number of retakes.
Proctor Requirements
Final Exams are closed-book and do not require a proctor.
American Insurance College Course Access
Students at the American Insurance College have unlimited access to all CE and Pre-Licensing courses.
Course Completion
AIC Completion Reporting
The American Insurance College reports all Course completions immediately. Our technology allows us to start reporting your results most normally within five minutes of your course completion.
Certificates of Completion
Certificates of Completion are issued immediately upon the completion of your course.
Reporting Fees
There is a state filing fee of $5.00 fee per course to report completions to the state.
