Continuing Education Requirements for the State of Utah
General Requirements
State Requirements
Resident Insurance Producers and Adjusters must satisfy the following continuing education requirements in order to renew their license: 24 hours every 2 years (Ethics – 3 hours). Producers must complete at least 50% (12 hours) of their required CE in certified classroom or classroom equivalent courses. Up to 12 hours of CE may be completed with self-study courses.

Multiple Lines Licensed Agents
Multiple Lines License Agents may take Major Lines courses in any license type held.
CE Exemptions
Producers who was first licensed before December 31, 1982 may be exempt from continuing education requirements.Producers whose license lapses due to military service, voluntary service for a period of time designated by the person for whom the licensee provides service, or other extenuating circumstances (i.e. medical disability). Producers who maintain the following designations: CLU, ChFC and RHU with completion of the PACE program, CPCU with completion of the CPD program, CFP, REBC, CIC, ACSR, CRM, SOFE, or IRES with completion of their continuing education requirements.

Licensees may take courses in any line of authority held.
Repeated Course Rules
Courses cannot be repeated within 2 years from the original course completion date.
Carryover Credits
Special Training Requirements
Insurers are responsible. No specific hours are required.
Initial Training: 3 hours must be taken in general Long-Term Care training.
Ongoing Training: 3 Hours every license period thereafter.
Initial Training: A one-time 3-hour FEMA/National Flood Insurance Program approved training course is required for agents selling Flood Insurance.

Self-study exams are open-book and do not require a monitor. Classroom equivalent courses do not have a final exam and must be completed by passing each end of chapter quiz.

American Insurance College Course Access
Students at the American Insurance College have unlimited access to all CE and Pre-Licensing courses.
Course Completion
AIC Completion Reporting
The American Insurance College reports all Course completions immediatey. Our technology allows us to start reporting your results most normally within five minutes of your course completion.
Certificates of Completion
Certificates of Completion are issued immediately upon the completion of your course.
Reporting Fees
There is a $1.25 fee per credit hour in order to report completions to the state.
