The purpose of this course is to better equip you in your professional activities as an Insurance Agent or Insurance Adjuster.

This course reviews the Law of Agency. The law of agency is an area of commercial law dealing with a set of contractual, quasi-contractual and non-contractual fiduciary relationships that involve a person, called the agent, that is authorized to act on behalf of another (called the principal) to create legal relations with a third party. We will study the three broad classes of agents: universal agents, general agents, and special agents. The rights and duties between agent and principal will be revealed. We will also discuss how agency relationships are formed: express, implied, and apparent relationships. The course has numerous interesting and on-point case studies as underpinning of the legal doctrines.
