The Law of Contracts

The purpose of this course is to better equip you in your professional activities as an Insurance Agent or Insurance Adjuster.

This course reviews the Law of Contracts. Contract law is an area of law that makes and enforces legally binding agreements, called contracts. A contract outlines the terms of an agreement in clear language. You will study the specific elements of Contracts: Offer, Acceptance, Capacity, Intention, Consideration, Legality, Formalities, if any. The course also reviews the different classifications of contracts: unilateral vs. bilateral; express vs. implied; and agreement vs. contract. The course briefly discuses: promissory estoppel; breach of contracts (including defenses to “breach of contract”); damages; and contract enforcement under the law. The legal doctrines discussed in the course are supported by numerous case studies to keep the course both interesting and instructive.
