The Law of Discovery

The purpose of this course is to better equip you in your professional activities as an Insurance Agent or Insurance Adjuster.

This course reviews the Law of Discovery. In this course the student will study Discovery; the pre-trial phase in a lawsuit in which each party investigates the facts of a case, through the rules of civil procedure, by obtaining evidence from the opposing party and others by means of discovery devices including requests for answers to interrogatories, requests for production of documents and things, requests for admissions, and depositions. We will study timing, sequencing, and certification; as well as disclosures and the limitations on discovery. The student will investigate trial preparation and the formal steps of a trail. The course has numerous interesting and on-point case studies as underpinning of the legal doctrines studied.
