Continuing Education Requirements for the State of Delaware

General Requirements

State Requirements

Resident Insurance Producers must satisfy the following continuing education requirements in order to renew their license: 24 hours every 2 years (Ethics – 3 hours; Lines of authority – 21 hours). Adjusters 12 Hours (3-hours must be Ethics).

Due Date

The last day of the Licensee's birth month every 2 years based on odd/even birth year.

Multiple Lines Licensed Agents

Multiple Lines License Agents may take Major Lines courses in any license type held.

CE Exemptions

First-time Licensed Producers are exempt for the first compliance period.

Limited Lines Producers for the following lines are exempt: credit, title, crop/hail, surety, travel, automobile club or car rental insurance).

Course Requirements

Subject Area Requirements

Students may take an approved course in any line of authority.

Repeated Course Rules

Courses cannot be repeated within 2 years from the original course completion date.

Carryover Credits

A maximum of 5 hours may be carried over to the next renewal period. Excess Ethics or speciality training hours will count as General credit.

Special Training Requirements

Annuity Training

Initial Training: 4-Hour Annuity Suitability and Best Interest Standards course must be complete prior to selling annuity products in Delaware.

Long-Term Care Training

Initial Training: 3 Hours of state-approved Delaware LTC training. Note: Does not need to be taken prior to selling, soliciting, or negotiating LTC products in Delaware but does need to be taken in the 2-year license term in which an LTC product is solicited.

Flood Training

2-Hours of CE for each renewal period for any licensee writing the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).

Required Workplace Compliance Training

Final Exams are open-book and do not require a proctor.

American Insurance College Course Access

Students at the American Insurance College have unlimited access to all CE and Pre-Licensing courses.

Course Completion

AIC Completion Reporting

The American Insurance College reports all Course completions immediately. Our technology allows us to start reporting your results most normally within five minutes of your course completion.

Certificates of Completion

Certificates of Completion are issued immediately upon the completion of your course.

Reporting Fees

There is a state filing fee of $1.00 per credit hour.
