Continuing Education Requirements for the State of Florida
General Requirements
State Requirements
Licensed Less than 6 years: Resident Insurance Producers and Adjusters licensed less than 6 years must satisfy the following continuing education requirements in order to renew their license: 24 Hours every 2 years (Law & Ethics Update – 4 Hours; General Electives – 20 Hours).
Licensed More than 6 years: Resident Insurance Producers and Adjusters licensed more than 6 years must satisfy the following continuing education requirements in order to renew their license: 20 Hours every 2 years (Law & Ethics Update – 4 Hours; General Electives – 16 Hours).
Customer Representatives and Limited Customer Representatives: 10 CE Hours Total (Law & Ethics Update – 4 Hours and General Electives – 6 Hours).

Multiple Lines Licensed Agents
All Licensees must take a 4 Hour Law & Ethics Update course for the license type held every compliance period. Multi-Line Agents can take a Law & Ethics Update course for any license held. All other courses are eligible as electives (Public Adjusters must take courses specifically approved for the Public Adjuster license).
CE Exemptions
Producers for the following lines are exempt: Crop-Hail, Dental Representative, and Motor Vehicle Physical Damage and Mechanical Breakdown agents.
Course Requirements
Subject Area Requirements
4 Hours Law & Ethics Update; all other hours may be taken in General Elective Course. Public Adjusters must take courses specifially approved for the Public Adjuster license.
Repeated Course Rules
Courses cannot be repeated within 2 years from the original course completion date.
Carryover Credits
24 Hours may be carried over to the next renewal period.
Special Training Requirements
Florida does not currently have a specific requirement for Annuity Sales. However, it is recommended that every Agent take a Senior Suitability course.
Initial Training: A one-time 8 Hours of training must be taken prior to selling LTC products in Florida.
Ongoing Training: 4 Hours every two years.
Initial Training: A one-time 3-hour FEMA/National Flood Insurance Program approved training course is required for agents selling Flood Insurance.

Final Exam Requirements
Exam Rules
Online Final Exams are closed book (course materials are not available while the Final Exam is in progress). The final exam must be passed with a score of 70% or higher to receive CE credit. If a Final Exam is not passed on the first attempt, students have an unlimited number of retakes.
Proctor Requirements
Online Final Exams do not require a proctor.
American Insurance College Course Access
Students at the American Insurance College have unlimited access to all CE and Pre-Licensing courses.
Course Completion
AIC Completion Reporting
The American Insurance College reports all Course completions immediately. Our technology allows us to start reporting your results most normally within five minutes of your course completion.
Certificates of Completion
Certificates of Completion are issued immediately upon the completion of your course.
Reporting Fees
Florida has no reporting fees to the DFS.
