Continuing Education Requirements for the State of Missouri
General Requirements
State Requirements
Resident Insurance Producers must satisfy the following continuing education requirements in order to renew their license: 16 hours every 2 years (Ethics – 3 hours required)

Multiple Lines Licensed Agents
Multiple Lines License Agents may take Major Lines courses in any license type held.
CE Exemptions
Producers who reside outside of the United States: active duty Armed Forces; a producer who has suffered serious physical injury or illness; those selling lines of crop, funeral plan, credit are exempt; producers 70 years of age or older.
Course Requirements
Subject Area Requirements
18 hours in license types held.
Repeated Course Rules
Courses cannot be repeated within 2 years from the original course completion date.
Carryover Credits
Excess hours may be carried over to the next renewal period.
Special Training Requirements
Initial Training: A one-time 4-hour Missouri Division of Insurance Approved training course is required for agents to be eligible to sell Annuities. Note: must be taken prior to selling, soliciting, or negotiating Annuity products in Missouri.
Initial Training: 4 hours every two years.
Ongoing Training: 5 Hours every two years (classroom only).
Initial Training: A one-time 3-hour FEMA/National Flood Insurance Program approved training course is required for agents selling Flood Insurance.
Anti-Money Laundering
Homeowners Insurance Coverage: Agents selling Homeowners Insurance must complete at least 3 hours on Homeowners Insurance each two-year licensing period.
Claims-Made Policy Training: Agents selling Claims-Made policies must complete 2 hours of CE as a one-time training prior to selling Claims-Made insurance products.
Final Exam Requirements
Exam Rules
Students must read the course material and answer each set of end-of-chapter quizzes before attempting a final exam. Online Final Exams are closed book (course materials are not available while the Final Exam is in progress). The final exam must be passed with a score of 70% or higher to receive CE credit. If the exam is not passed on the first attempt, students have an unlimited number of retakes.
Proctor Requirements
Final Exams are closed-book and do not require a proctor.
American Insurance College Course Access
Students at the American Insurance College have unlimited access to all CE and Pre-Licensing courses.
Course Completion
AIC Completion Reporting
The American Insurance College reports all Course completions immediately. Our technology allows us to start reporting your results most normally within five minutes of your course completion.
Certificates of Completion
Certificates of Completion are issued immediately upon the completion of your course.
Reporting Fees
There is a state filing fee of $1.00 per credit hour.
