Continuing Education Requirements for the State of Nevada

General Requirements

State Requirements

Resident Agents and Adjusters must satisfy the following continuing education requirements in order to renew their license: Agents: 30 hours every 3 years (Ethics – 3 hours) and Adjusters 24 hours every 3 years (Ethics – 3 hours).

Due Date

The first day of the month every 3 years following the license term.

Multiple Lines Licensed Agents

Multiple Lines License Agents may take General Elective courses in any license type held.

CE Exemptions

Licensees who have been continuously licensed as an insurance producer for 20 years, Nonresidents, Producers holding only limited lines licenses or CIC, CLU, CPCU, ChFC, or CFP designations

Course Requirements

Subject Area Requirements

Licenses may only take an approved course in the line of authority held. Adjusters can take Property & Casualty courses for credit.

Repeated Course Rules

Courses cannot be repeated within 3 years from the original course completion date.

Carryover Credits

No carry over credits are allowed.

Special Training Requirements

Annuity Training

Insurers are required to train producers on annuity requirements.

Long-Term Care Training

Initial Training: 8 hours must be taken in general Long-Term Care.

Ongoing Training: 4 Hours every two years.

Flood Training

Initial Training: A one-time 3-hour FEMA/National Flood Insurance Program approved training course is required for agents selling Flood Insurance.

Final Exam Requirements

Exam Rules

Online Final Exams are closed book and must be proctored (course materials are not available while the Final Exam is in progress). The final exam must be passed with a score of 70% or higher to receive CE credit. If the exam is not passed on the first attempt, students have an unlimited number of retakes.

Proctor Requirements

Online Final Exams are closed book and must be proctored by a disinterested third party. A disinterested third party must certify that the Licensee completed the exam without assistance and is someone who has no financial interest in the success or failure of the student’s ability to maintain their license.

American Insurance College Course Access

Students at the American Insurance College have unlimited access to all CE and Pre-Licensing courses.

Course Completion

AIC Completion Reporting

The American Insurance College reports all Course completions immediatey. Our technology allows us to start reporting your results most normally within five minutes of your course completion.

Certificates of Completion

Certificates of Completion are issued immediately upon the completion of your course.

Reporting Fees

There is a $1.25 fee per credit hour to report completions to the state.
