Continuing Education Requirements for the State of Wisconsin
General Requirements
State Requirements
Resident Insurance Producers must satisfy the following continuing education requirements in order to renew their license: 24 hours every 2 years (Ethics – 3 hours required).

Multiple Lines Licensed Agents
Multiple Lines License Agents may take Major Lines courses in any license type held.
CE Exemptions
Resident Producers who hold an exclusive limited line insurance license for credit, legal expense, travel, and title insurance. Nonresidents are held to their home state requirements except for Annuity and LTC training.
Course Requirements
Subject Area Requirements
Students must take approved courses in the line of authority in which they are licensed in.
Repeated Course Rules
Courses cannot be repeated within 2 years from the original course completion date.
Carryover Credits
No credits can be carried over into the next term.
Special Training Requirements
Initial Training: A one-time 4-hour Wisconsin Approved training course is required for agents to be eligible to sell Annuities.
Initial Training: 8 hours must be taken with 7 hours in general Long-Term Care; and 1 hours specific to Wisconsin Specific Medicaid Training.
Ongoing Training: 4 hours every two years with 1 hour specific to Wisconsin Specific Medicaid Training.
Initial Training: A one-time 3-hour FEMA/National Flood Insurance Program approved training course is required for agents selling Flood Insurance.
Anti-Money Laundering
Life Settlement Broker: Life Settlement Broker licensees must complete an 8 hour training course that complys with Wisconsin’s outline and state statutes that must be covered. 4-hours for ongoing licensees every 24 months.
Final Exam Requirements
Exam Rules
Online Final Exams are closed book (course materials are not available while the Final Exam is in progress). The final exam must be passed with a score of 70% or higher to receive CE credit. If the exam is not passed on the first attempt, students have an unlimited number of retakes.
Proctor Requirements
Online Final Exams are closed book and must be proctored by a disinterested third party. A disinterested third party must certify that the Licensee completed the exam without assistance and is someone who has no financial interest in the success or failure of the student’s ability to maintain their license.
American Insurance College Course Access
Students at the American Insurance College have unlimited access to all CE and Pre-Licensing courses.
Course Completion

The American Insurance College reports all Course completions immediatey. Our technology allows us to start reporting your results most normally within five minutes of your course completion.
Certificates of Completion
Certificates of Completion are issued immediately upon the completion of your course.
Reporting Fees
There is a state filing fee of $1.00 per credit hour.
