The purpose of this course is to better equip you in your professional activities as an Insurance Agent or Insurance Adjuster.

For Maryland multiline Life/Health and Property/Casualty, licensees must complete a minimum of six (6) hours in each line. The remaining hours may be satisfied by either line.

This course reviews the Law of Torts. Tort law is the area of the law that covers most civil suits. In this course the student will study the three categories of torts: negligent torts, intentional torts, and strict liability torts. The scope of duty, causation, and harm will be addressed; as will be standards of proof. Liability and damage types will be reviewed as will be tort defenses. The course has numerous interesting and on-point case studies as underpinning of the legal doctrines.

This course makes a few assumptions about you the student:

  • You are a currently licensed Insurance Agent or Adjuster.
  • You are interested in additional information, resources, and knowledge regarding the law of torts.
